Here’s the experience we’re building: a direct route from a participating stand’s QR code to a coffee made your way.
LocalMugs is in development. This guide describes the planned experience, not a live ordering service.
01
Find your stand’s menu.
Scan its LocalMugs QR code with your phone camera. The menu will clearly identify the stand and pickup location. You won’t need an app or customer account.
02
Choose the details.
Pick an available drink, size and priced extras from the stand’s menu. Add a short note for the barista when needed. Confirm the pickup location before you continue.
03
Choose now or later.
Use “Make it now” or choose an available scheduled pickup. The stand’s hours, availability and current order settings will determine the choices.
04
Review, pay, pick up.
Review your drink, pickup details, tax and optional tip before paying through the planned Square integration. Keep the confirmation and pick up at the selected stand.
A familiar face. A familiar order.
That’s the point. Technology should make the connection simpler—not get in the way.
Open your merchant workspace, verify your email, create your business and approve the Square Sandbox connection on Square’s own screen.
2. Review locations and online categories
Synchronize Square, confirm each stand’s address/timezone, and choose all eligible items or selected Square categories. An empty or missing selection never exposes the full menu.
3. Set pickup hours and breathing room
Review preparation time and pickup slots. Normal, Busy and Paused affect new orders only; already-paid orders still need fulfillment. Record the real service window/address for a traveling cart.
4. Configure and verify the ticket workflow
Choose the intended printer, KDS or Order Manager workflow in your stand’s settings. Staff configure Square hardware themselves. Follow Square’s order-ticket instructions and printer-profile guide. Sandbox cannot certify a physical ticket; a controlled real test requires separate authorization.
5. Keep availability truthful
Mark unavailable items/modifiers in Square and synchronize the menu. See Square’s sold-out guide. Ingredients not tracked by Square still need merchant attention.
6. Test, then prepare your QR sign
Use the correct Sandbox location, variation, modifiers, note, name and pickup time. Keep the private receipt. Download the actual location QR and inspect the print preview; Sandbox signage is explicitly not public ordering signage.
If something needs attention
Pause new ordering, check existing paid orders, refresh provider state or reconnect Square as appropriate. Review refunds and completion-based statements in the workspace, and contact support with a non-personal order reference. No automatic merchant collection is enabled.
